Notes for George Tyler WILSON


In 1861 He walked from Sikesville to Auburn to enlist in CSA-14th Alabama
Volunteers Regt. Infantry Co. "K", wounded in battle of Williamsburg, Va. on
5 May 1862, was also wounded in battle of Gettysburg; was captured in
July 1864 and imprisoned in Elmira, NY, resigned prison & remained behind lines
until surrender. In 1877-1888 Alabama State Gazetteer and Business Directory
for Randolph County, G.T. Wilson of Almond (Population 50 with tri-weekly mail
delivery) was shown as a wagon maker. Tyler was 6'0" tall with a dark
complexion and hazel eyes.
